Vietnamese Shrimp Toast (Bánh Mì Nướng Tôm)

How to make Vietnamese shrimp toast, or Bánh Mì Nướng Tôm! I swear I eat like 10 of these at family gatherings LOL THEY’RE SO ADDICTING!! This was my sandwich version with a spicy mayo dipping sauce that is a must with this recipe!

(Looks a little burnt but trust me it’s good haha)

📝 Ingredients

Servings: 2

⏱ Time: ~25 minutes

For different servings, multiply ingredients accordingly.

🍞 Bread

  • 4 slices white bread

🦐 Shrimp

  • 300 g shrimp
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp white pepper
  • Sprinkle of MSG
  • Green onion, chopped (to taste)

🥣 Dipping Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Japanese mayo
  • ½ tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp chili sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

👩‍🍳 Directions

  1. Mince the shrimp, garlic cloves, and ginger.
  2. Add in all seasonings and sauces, then mix thoroughly with the shrimp.
  3. Spread Japanese mayo on one side of the bread slices.
  4. Top the mayo side with the shrimp mixture.
  5. Air fry at 375°F for 8–12 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked and the bread is golden (watch closely to avoid burning).
  6. Make the dipping sauce of your choice (e.g., sweet chili, nuoc cham, or sriracha mayo).
  7. Cut into pieces and enjoy!
