Easy Seared Ahi Tuna

This Seared Ahi Tuna is a quick dish that is rich in lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health and help reduce inflammation. The tuna is briefly marinated, coated in a sesame seasoning crust, then seared for under a minute on each side to keep the inside tender. 

Easy Seared Ahi Tuna

Seared ahi tuna steaks with a sesame crust, quickly pan-seared and ready in just 15 minutes. This high-protein, omega-3 rich tuna dish is a great source of lean protein and served with a side of rice or vegetables or even on its own.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ahi tuna steaks
  • 1 Tbsp yuzu
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil

Crust

  • ¼ cup white sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup black sesame seeds
  • ½ Tbsp garlic seasoning
  • ½ Tbsp onion seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar

Garnish

  • Green onions, chopped

Instructions
 Start Cooking 

  • Coat the ahi tuna steaks in the marinade and let them sit for about 5 minutes while preparing the crust mixture.
    2 ahi tuna steaks, 1 Tbsp yuzu, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 tsp sesame oil
  • Evenly coat the tuna steaks with the crust seasoning mixture, pressing gently so the seasoning adheres to the surface.
    ¼ cup white sesame seeds, ¼ cup black sesame seeds, ½ Tbsp garlic seasoning, ½ Tbsp onion seasoning, 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the tuna for 45–60 seconds per side, allowing the outside to develop a crust while keeping the center rare.
  • Remove the tuna from heat and allow it to rest for about 3 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice the tuna and top with green onions. Serve on its own or with a side of rice.
