Air Fryer Apple Pie Chips
I don’t think I can eat apples the same way again after making these Air Fryer Apple Pie Chips! All you need are two ingredients and an air fryer, and the result tastes just like apple pie in snack form. I originally made these after buying a bag of apples that didn’t taste great… you know the ones that are soft and grainy instead of crisp.

But instead of having to eat bad apples, cooking them completely transforms their flavor. When apples are heated, their starches break down into sweeter sugars like fructose and glucose. As moisture evaporates with heat, those sugars become even more concentrated, creating a naturally sweet apple pie-like snack.

Typical apple chips are sliced thin and crisp up after air frying, but these are sliced thicker so they remain a bit softer and have more of an “apple pie” flavor.

- Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overlap so they cook evenly.

- Air fry at 365°F for 20–30 minutes, flipping or tossing the apple slices every 5 minutes to prevent burning and help them dry evenly.

- Increase the temperature to 385°F and air fry for an additional 5 minutes to help them break down further and become sweeter.

- Remove the apple chips from the air fryer and allow them to cool for about 10 minutes, which helps them firm up before eating.
